Fitting exposed battens to patio

I propose fitting mirboo battens to underside of my patio to alleviate heat. I have the roof of it fitted with clear perspex sheeting and it gets hot up to 46 deeg c. in the deck area
If I attach the exposed battens (I'm thinking 42 x 19) can you get a nail that is same colour ie brown or whatever and should you use a ship type nail and would you put two nails in (side be side) or just a nail in the centre . i;m concerned the boards might warp and it will look odd.
sorry for dumb question but my missus wants it done proper.
