Fireplace Doors Insulation

A couple of squirrels got into my fireplace and clawed all of the insulation away from the fireplace doors. The fireplace is not used, except for candles on occasion. Can I replace the lost insulation with foam spray insulation to keep cool air from seeping into the living room this winter? Or, should I replace with fiberglass insulation strips?

If only using it for a decoration, you could probably have a mason cap it up above, so no critters can get in, and also block any drafts. No if you wish to keep it operational, you could look into a gas insert. Check with local Fireplace shops that sell those.
