Fireplace/chimney repair options

A visual and video inspection of my fireplace led to a report stating that I have:

-A gap between flue liner and brickwork of the chimney;

-Large openings between flue liners, as well as longitutinal fractures (in a few places, you can see the aluminum heater liner through a crack in the fireplace flue.

The recommended repair was to remove the firebox to gain access to smoke chamber, repair the system with Chamber Tech 2000 and the Heat Shield Cerfactory Flue Liner Repair system, and install a more efficient firebox.

The cost is in the high single digit thousands. Gulp, says that homeowner! Based on the report, is this the best/most cost effective way to go about this? Does the firebox really need to come out?
