Finger jointed pine vs. clear pine

Is primed FJP a good choice for fascia?
It is 15% cheaper than clear pine and it is already primed.
Will it hold up through New Jersey weather?

Finger jointed pine vs. clear pine

As long as it's properly caulked, painted, and maintained it should be fine. The advantage to "clear" is ability to stain it.

Finger jointed pine vs. clear pine

The problem with finger jointed is that the joints will be noticable if exposed to moisture, since the wood swells at slightly different rates, causing expansion and the jointed outline. Be sure to use quality primer and paint. Otherwise, you can expect the joint to seperate in the future.
