Filling of expansion joints,in frame structure building


HI,I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW ABOUT SUCH A MATERIAL THAT CAN BE USED TO FILL THE EXPANSION JOINTS IN THE FLOOR,SUB FLOORS AND ROOF FOR THE MULTSTORY FRAME STRUCTURE BUILDING.PLEASE LET ME KNOW ABOUT THE MATERIAL AND EASIEST WAY TO APPLY THESE MATERIALS,WITHOUT ANY DIFFICULTY.
i am an architect by profession,and this task of joints filling has been assigned to me from my university where i am teaching in architecture deaprtment.

Filling of expansion joints,in frame structure building


Expansion joints are there for a reason, to expand and contract. Filling them would be a bad idea. Most likely because the rest of the structure needs them. Those expansion movements would either crack whatever was used to 'fill' them, or the structure would crack somewhere else (and likely be much more expensive to fix).

If you're an architect you should know this already. God help the students and clients.
