Just go buy a nice fiberglass door and you can stain it any color you want. Don't go to homedepot or somewhere like that. Go to a no name lumber company and see what they can order. Or a no name place that specializes in doors and windows. Finally follow manufacturers instructions on staining or ask one of the guys in the painters section here.

You need to remember it most likely wasn't your last 2 wood doors fault. Wether you have a wood door or another material, the door must be finished properly. This means finishing all 6 sides of the door slab (front, back, 2-sides, top and bottom). If all six sides are not finished it will allow moisture to penatrate which will cause warping, swelling, ect.
Now on to question about other types of doors (steel and fiberglass). The only thing on these doors that are made of this material is the door slab skin itself. Most steel/fiberglass door slabs still have a wood perimeter around them for support and must be finsihed properly (6-sides) Also, the jamb will still be made of wood.
As far as brands go, Therma-tru invented fiberglass doors and still leads the way as far as technoligy goes. Peachtree makes a great door as well. There are also alot of other companies that manufacture their own slabs and use the same glass as other companies.
Hope this info help.

Good luck with your decision.
