fiberglass column strength

The 8" x 8' fiberglass columns I bought are hollow and only about 1/8" thick. They are supposed to rated for 6,500 lbs. Does this sound right? They are made by afco industries. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Is there any documentation or approvals by any independant authority or building code?

The capacity of a column depends on the length. A 6500# column at 8' long may carry only 1/4 that load at 12' or 16'.

An 1/8" thick? Sounds Absurd.
