Facade around front door

Hey all,

I'm not sure what it's called, but I'm wanting to build a facade around my front door. Right now, there is an 8x4 brick landing (2 steps down to sidewalk. I'm not sure if it would actually have a roof over top, or be more like a pergola.

I was hoping to have some raw timber look. However, I don't know what this home feature is even called - so I can't search for photos for inspiration.

Do any of you have any ideas/pics/links that might some some nice treatment around a front door with a raw timber look?
