Exterior Insulation Board Opinion

I am going to side my house with vinyl siding. I will be tearing the wood siding off and the plan is to use insulation board covered by housewrap. Which insulation board should I use? A foil faced product or unfaced product like blue-board? I will be using a 1/2" thick product either way.

No foil; exterior should be as vapor open as possible. While at it, can you install one or two inches of insulation and a rain screen? Are you installing a WRB (water resistant barrier, like Tyvek or asphalt paper)? 1/2" is almost not worth the trouble, IMO.

I will be using Tyvek and around here a lot of the siding installers use Rboard for residing jobs.

Rigid board for a rain screen, of sorts, or for R value? Is R2.5 worth the trouble? Dunno; your call there. It is something, and avoids extending window frames or new windows.

17,000 dryer fires a year, when did you last clean the inside of the dryer near motor or the exhaust ducting?
