Exposed ceiling joist
 

I have a home built in 1928.Ceilings are plaster and lathe.I want to remove the existing ceiling and leave the joists exposed.What would be the best material to put on top of joists as the ceiling?Drywall or plywood?I am looking at green board if I use drywall.

Ayuh,... What's Above those joists,..??
That'll have great bearing on whatever material can be used...
And of course, How it's held there...

The space above is an attic.Single story house.Very little insulation above ceiling,6" of cellulose.
