Estimating siding
 
How do I determine how much siding I need? Do I back out the area of the windows and doors or leave them in for a fluff factor. How much extra %wise should I purchase?

I just ordered siding for my house and he is what I did:
Total sq footage is needed for estimating how much siding is needed, this includes windows and doors.

I have a Cape, so here is how I broke it down:

Basically there are 6-8 main supplies, depending.
  1. Fanboard Insulation (use for over entire house, if existing siding is in place)
  2. Siding
  3. Starter Strip -- bottom piece that sets the line for the siding
  4. Corner Post
  5. "J" Channel -- wrapping windows and doors
  6. Soffits -- should be replaced
  7. Gutters \ down spouts
Here is what I sent my contractor for mesurements for him to place the order:



Then lastly I sent this Summary:
