enlarging exterior door in block wall.


hello, i want to cut into a belgian block wall to enlarge a doorway.
has concrete header/lentil. any advice? thanx much

Not too sure but do you need a Belgian to do it?

well, your lentil is going to have to be wide enough to cover the new opening. It also, obviously, has to be strong enough to support the load. There are a few guys here that are masons and a few others that will likely have some info.

How big is the current opening? How big do you want the new opening to be? How tall is the wall this opening is in? What is below this wall?

Lentils make good soup. Lintels are much better for doorways.

I suppose so. I seem to make that error with regularity. One would think I would learn that by now...

but if I did, there would be no comedic relief available in threads concerning lintels.
