elephant foot footings

Are elephant foot footings appropriate as support for a 20 x 20 home extension. The frost travels down in the soil 3 to 4 feet.

elephant foot footings

First - The bottoms have to be below the frost line.

Second - Whether they support the addition depends on the load on each support point AND the strength of the soil AND the bottom area of the"elephant foot".
