Dumb Siding question
I have been wanting to put in a new door out the back of my garage, a mower door, I framed in a 6'W X 7"H door frame all done on the inside of the garage, the siding is untouched. I want to frame up doors thet will swing out. (2- 2'11 3/4" X 6' 11" doors).
Question: Do I remove all the siding install the j channel then cut and fit the siding or do I cut the hole then add the j channel? I hope this makes sense:no: |
Remove the siding [I'm assuming its vinyl] back to the first break and finish installing the outside of the door. This will give you enough room to flash and mold around the door properly.
Then install your track around the door and cut the siding to fit. A zip tool to undo/rezip the siding is a must have and they are only a few bucks at the big box. |
Sammy, got a link to a "zip tool" so I know what I'm looking for?!

Sammy, I found out how to use it and what it looks like here http://homerepair.about.com/od/exter...ng_ziptool.htm
Thank you |
Thats it!
Makes it real easy to pop off the siding and put it back on. |
