Drywalling over Brick Chimney and Lath Wall
Hi Everyone! I need some advice on what the best plan is here...
Please see photos of the area I need to drywall.
We are buying a family home and there was some water damage from 2 yrs ago that was never fixed. I have to do a TEMPORARY drywall, mud, and paint job to make the room look good for the appraiser so we can get the bank to approve our loan on the house.
What's the best way to handle drywalling this? I was thinking of screwing in 2 wooden strips vertically with masonry screws to the chimney brick to level the surface between the chimney and the existing lath, then using an adhesive like liquid nails to adhere the drywall to the wooden strips on the left side of the photo and screwing in the drywall to the stud (located just next to the end of brick of the chimney) and a few more screws into the drywall through the lath for added support.
Thanks for your help everyone!
