Hello All...I am in the midst of remodelling my basement bathroom and have a question about C/B and sheetrock seams. I will be tiling the shower section and am using C/B as a backing, and am wondering if I should caulk or seal the seams with anything, or if tile mortor itself will suffice. I have seen and heard of people siliconing or even tuck taping C/B joints but always wondered if nescessary. I am also using the Schluter shower system and am thinking that sealing the C/B joints may be overkill or create a problem with adhesion for skirting compound.
Depends a bit on the layout and size of tile you're putting there. If it's smaller tiles, then taping the joints with the special tape they have for that is required, otherwise if you're going with bigger tiles, then you may not need to.
But good for you for 'waterproofing' the shower...!
