Drywall Taping Cost
After hanging about 94 sheets of drywall in my basement myself I have decided to hire a professional to tape and mud my work.

I currently have two different guys coming over to give me an estimate, but I donít even know what would be a good or bad price would be.

Also, what type of questions should I be asking these guy's?

I met with the first guy the other night and he gave me a quote of $1,400 (I think that works out to be .48 a square foot)

Also, I should note that I have a number of outside corners and a few angled walls .

thanks for any help

Dave from Chicago

Does that price include materials? Example: Tape, compound, corner bead, etc...

yes - that price is for all materials (compound, tape, corner bead) and the walls will be ready to paint after he is finished.

That sounds like a pretty good price to me......

Besides price, you need to worry about quality of the work.... how do you know he can do a good job? is he being referenced by someone else you know for example?

The guy ($1,400) was referred to me by a general contractor that my insurance company used to fix the siding on my house after a major storm.

They other guy that is coming tonight is my neighborís buddy and I donít know what his qualifications and price yet

Does that include texturing?

You never mentioned that in your original post..

nope - no texturing

Going rate here in NY is about 10 dollars a board and 10 dollars a corner bead. So 94 bds x $10 equals $940 plus beads. Sounds like a fair price.

The OP mentioned in their original post that the cost is $1400.00 and works out to be about .48 per sf.

$1400.00 divided by .48 = approximately 2916 sf.
