Dry wall hole patching question.
I just patched a hole about a sq foot and the piece is sitting about an 1/8th" in from the surounding surface.
I guess it's because the existing drywall has the texture and the new piece is just a plain new piece.
My question is do I sand the existing texture around where The new piece is,Sand like say a foot or so so that the texture feathers in pretty good and then prime where I sanded and prime the new piece and then on the new piece use joint compound to bring
it up to the level of the surounding area then tape it and then mask the area and then texture it.
I would not prime before filling the repair with compound.......I just don't think that it is necessary. Just fill the patch to bring it just about level then texure. Old post, but my 2 cents anyway.
