driveway widening

Ayuh,... I'm guessin' your talkin' Concrete,..??

A jackhammer/ Large hammerdrill will bust out what needs bustin' out...
A gas handheld demosaw is great for trimming, 'n angle cuts...
Cut/ bust out the curb to below finish grade by a few inches so it can be capped with the new apron pour...

After you dig out whatevers in the expansion area now,...
Form it up, 'n pour the new driveway apron...

driveway widening

You start with your local governing body, because the odds are the section of the driveway (the approach) you're looking to add on to is within the public right-of-way. If in The ROW, there are typically clear cut standards, specifications, and dimensions that need to be followed. Many times, a bond needs to be held as well.
