Ready to put in new exterior doors and wondering what the best way to flash the door sill is.
1) Flexwrap plus pre-fab sill pan (Jamsill or equivalent).
2) Flexwrap + sloped sill.
3) Sill pan no Flexwrap.
The DuPont Flashing Systems Installation Guideline for Brick Mold, Non-Flanged and Field Applied Flanged Door says:
Door and window rough sill framing must be level or slightly sloped to the exterior to ensure proper drainage to the exterior. DuPont recommends the use of the SureSill™ Sloped Sill Pan™, manufactured by SureSill, Ltd, on all exterior doors and in certain applications on windows. This best practice ensures continuous support with positive slope to the exterior.
but the guide does not show how to integrate the sill pan with Flexwrap. Any ideas? Is Flexwrap + a sill pan overkill? I'm not concerned about spending an extra $30-50 per door as I only have 3, just want the best protection.
I didn't see any responses to your question but I assume you have gone ahead and fitted your new doors. I'm about to install a couple of new windows and was interested in what you did for the sill flashing as I'm considering the Jamsill guard as well. I would be interested in your comments if you used this product.
