Door Meets last step on basement staircase..


The building code grandfathers in much of the things in these old houses. We installed 24" doors upstairs into a bathroom and the inspector had no problem, same thing with some of the joist sizes and spacing.

In this instance I was more trying to figure out whether to have the step in front of the door to get a 30" door, or to have a 24" door and frame the wall out further.
