door at bottom of bulkhead stairs

To help prevent heat loss in winter and keep humidity out in summer, I plan to build an insulated door at the bottom of poured concrete bulkhead stairs. I'm not terribly experienced with construction (I'm a hobbyist furniture maker), and would love any input in creating a good design, and installation method.
Thanks!

Not sure how anyone's going to be able to come up with suggestions without a picture of where you plan on putting the door.

Why would you "make" a door. most often you just build a wall with a pressure treated bottom plate and install an extrerier prehung door.

OK here's a pic.
I was hoping to minimize the loss of width, and to avoid having a threshold at the bottom of the stairs.

I'd suggest buildng three walls, one on each side and one for the door to be framed into. That would give you what would amount to a landing at the bottom of the steps.
Pressure treated bottom plates, insulate the walls.

I like to put 2" of sturofoam in the bottom of the stud bays. This way insulation can not wick up moisture, if there happens to be any.
Seal the studs to the concrete, and the poly as well. I Use acoustical sealant.
