do i need subfloor?

not sure where to post this!

building a timber frame stair..the upper landing is complete..see photos

my question is this:

I am planning on putting 2x8 tongue and groove on the landing...I want the tongue and groove to be seen from below..like the loft..loft has sub floor built up to allow for cam lights into the living room

the landing is 60" wide, 58" long 53 1/2" tall...built from 6x8 doug fir. middle post is 21 1/2" on west side and 23" on east..due to the construction of the timber frame home.

Can I get away with just laying the 2x8 t&g directly on the landing?

Do I have to use a subfloor? (3/4" plywood)

I think no plywood is needed, you will be able to allow elephants to sit on that without any deflection.

do i need subfloor?

lol..sounds good! gonna start putting stingers and treads together next week..stringers are 4x12s and treads are 4x10s..i think stairs should last...only concern is lifting em into place!

will post more photos as project goes ahead

another crazy question:

I am going to use 1/2 rebar...4 of em welded together for the spindles..not sure this is forum to ask, but how do you get them clean? cant find anything online expect for electrolysis! Good old elbow grease with angle iron and steel wool the best method?

Gonna put em between doug fir 4x4
