Do I have to put a nail in every hole on corner bead...

I noticed that on one side the holes are 12 inches apart and on the other side they are 6 inches apart.

Do I have to put a nail in every hole?
(Silly question, I know)

No. Every foot on each side is fine.

Keeping the cornerbead fastened securely where it begins and ends is important to prevent future cracking. (Use the very top holes if the cornerbead is vertical)
12" O.C. is fine unless the cornerbead is flexing or there is a gap yet.

Cut drywall rarely ends up in nice square corners before applying the corner bead. One trick I like to use is putting a fair amount of drywall compound on the INSIDE of the corner bead before sticking it to the wall (amount depends on the size of the gap). Press it to the corner very firmly and it will "stick" there. You may get some compound oozing out the nail holes, this is fine, just wipe it off when finished. This will give you a more solid corner (less prone to "dents" and deters any very tiny critters that might get under the baseboard from nesting in the gaps between the drywall edges. This works particularly well with the "rounded" corner beads which I personally prefer.

As the others have mentioned, 1 nail per foot or so on each side works well... (I like to stagger" them from side to side, so you actually end up with a nail in the corner bead about every six inches or so...)

Thanks very much.

One nail every 12 inches sounds good to me.
