I think you're a little high on that bid there Kirk... OP has about 25 yards of dirt to move and due to the lack of details I'll assume we're just moving it aside to get it out of the way.

Since we have no idea of soil type, I'll go easy with a clean sandy soil which with the perfect moister content you'll only burn about 300 calories an hour.

In those perfect conditions if a healthy guy can't move 10 yards in a 8 hr day then he's fired!

Based on that, then 20 hrs should do it for a total of about 6000 calories.

Of coarse if the soil is sticky, rock, root infested clay then the bid could be quadruple that.

Either way I think I won the bid.

Going to have to make some local calls.
No way anyone on any site can quote prices.
And no a "ball park" price is not going to do you any good.

I agree with Joe. In my experience in the industry, every foundation is different depending on alot of factors such as soil, your plot map of your home and other things so I would collect at least 3 bids and then decide who will do the best job and the least expensive company isn't always quality work. Just make sure the dozen diet work of your lot is done properly before beginning your footing digging.

4'deep x 41'long and 4'w. What the heck are you building? A corn crib with a crawlspace?

Oh boy here we go again.
It's not going to do you any good to try getting any prices on the net for this type of job.
Make some local calls and get some real prices not guesss from people that could be from anywhere on the planet.
No ones going to know the local codes, soil conditions, labor rates, equipment cost, how hard the site is to get to.ECT.

I worked for a home builder and so any new home that was getting built had to hire a crew that specializes in preparing the dirt/soil before digging the footing. To my best understanding, they dig up around the whole area where the house will be built to make sure the ground is all level and then packed down. The footing group comes in next and diggs the ditch of the house outline to prep for the foundation. Hope this helped.
