Detached gable structure for backyard shade

SUbmitted plans to local building department for building a detached gable roof over part of my backyard patio. We do not want to cut into the patio to place a post so an engineered LVL beam is the choice to be able to span 22 feet. The structure is going to be 22ft x 18 ft.

See photos for orientation and drawings.

I'd have at least 3 issues with that design.
You have the roof pitched so 1/2 the waters going to be dumping on the high side of the patio.
Why would you have the grill outside of the roof line?
LVL's will need to be covered.

Will be using gutters to direct water.
We have our reason for not covering entire patio.
You are correct that the LVLs will need to be covered.

Thanks
