What is the difference between brown and green treated wood for an outdoor deck

Not sure I understand your question. Are you asking what's the difference between cedar and pressure-treated lumber?

Not sure what the difference is but in Oregon treated is brown (fir) and in Kansas it's green (pine).

I can only assume a different mix for a different regions.

He is probably talking about the new PT lumber from HD that is brown in color instead of green.

Not much of a difference, they both are mediocre materials that are prone to drying out and warping and cracking.

Buy good quality cedar and use a high quality stain.
