Deck stairs on sand-set brick landing

I am all to glad to follow your advice and leave the stair free float on the brick.

Yes risers are planned. I am intending to make them white (PVC facia over wood). So I wasn't going to pay for Ipe in that spot. However I had not considered steam-bending. I thought I would laminate. Is kerfing or steaming easier than laminating?

I did not understand that part. If I lay a 2x on the patio, I have to notch the stringers, no? Or did you mean, flat on the gravel next to the bricks; under the heals?

What's the stringer cutoff wedge for? Ah, I got that part. You mean set a wedge standing under the oblique back of the stringer; as a sort of post. Right? Yeah, I could do that. Neat idea!
