I would like to know how long of a deck screw should I use for my deck boards

What thickness and type of deck Board?

I use 3" screws for 1.25 & 1.5 inch thick boards. Ceramic coated deck screws.

I have used 2-1/2" with 1-1/4" decking boards with no problems. The longer the better of course but probably don't need more than 2-1/2".

Make sure you use a coated decking screw. There are epoxy coated, ceramic coated (as mentioned) and probably some others. They are more expensive but if you use something cheap they will rust over time and start breaking.

I would also use something that takes a square or star bit. There will be less stripping that way if you use an impact driver to sink them.

Up here in Canada they are all square drive, Robertson invented it.

For my standard PT decking, I use Deckmate 2.5" screws.

BTW, all Deckmate screws seem to come with starbits these days...

grk screws are becoming more common, especially for color matched screws for composite decking

if you deck is near the water you'll need to switch to stainless steel Especially if your right next to salt water. reg screws wont last. the salt in the air accelerates corrosion
