Deck - 45 spindles - advice wanted (pics inside)

If each section is identical I would consider making insert panels. Then I could build the panels in a jig in the shop. Essentially build a frame with some 1/2"x 1" strips then attach the balusters to that. Your jig will show you exactly where each baluster will go. The frame will be easy to split so pre-drill your holes if you use screws. I would use 2 brads for each end untill I got everything where I wanted it and then add one screw to each end of each balluster. When finished you will not have any visible connections except for attaching the frame to the rails.

Even better would be to use something like Deckorators aluminum balusters. You could cut them as required. Then they could be set into holes at each intersection. It would certainly look cool. A cheaper alternative would be to make your own deckarators style balusters. I have thought copper pipe might look cool.

bujaly,

I don't think you'll have much luck getting an answer to your question since this thread has been inactive for about 2 years.

FWIW - I thought the the post before yours mentions the name of the program that the person used to do their drawings....check it out.

Since this is not too old a post and I saw this, I have to ask a question. Is copper and the chemicals in pt lumber not a no-no?
