Question

deadbolt hole in metal door/frame

i have a metal fire door on my shed and would like to put a deadbolt lock for extra security (live in a city). but i don't think i have seen metal cutting hole saw blades with 14-18 TPI, all i've see are wood ones. any ideas?

thanks

All the Milwaukee and Lenox blades at the big box stores are metal cutters.

You'll probably need to drill a 2-1/8" hole. You can get some like this for under $16. ( just make sure you get a pilot bit if it's not included)

If the drill you plan to use for this project has a side handle on it, USE IT! When these saws contact the metal they tend to bite hard. Using a drill equipt with a side handle will help prevent marring up your door ( and breaking your wrist!!)
