Cutting Landscape Blocks - any advice?

I will be installing a small retaining wall. One side of the wall will be against the house so I will need to cut some of the blocks in half.

Lowe's does sell a masonary cutting blade for my recipicating saw BUT it takes forever to cut one block. Are there any tricks to this?

These are the medium sized blocks.

OK. I did check Lowe's site.

http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...RetWall.html#3

"To accurately cut a block, score a line around it with a 3 1/2" brick chisel and a 3 lb. sledgehammer. Place the cutting edge of the chisel in the center of the score line and strike the chisel sharply with the sledgehammer."

BTW, this did work pretty well. I did get the chisel with the protective guard. I also got a 4 lb. hammer rather than the 3 lb. since it actually cost less.

Way to go Fred. I'm in the home stretch on my brick landscape wall and have cut quite a few bricks with the same method/tools you figured out. Trial and error will get you to the point where you look like a pro doing it.
