Question

cutting 2 adjacent studs in load bearing wall

I need to cut 2 adjacent studs in my barn. This is a unfinished interior 24x32 structure. My plans are to cut the studs out and frame it like a window. The locker is 36" x 72' metal. I intend to install the locker in the opening and secured in place by using lagscrews thru the side of the lockers into the 2x4s installed to support the header installed above the lockers. Please excuse any improper nomenclature as I am new to this carpentry.
ANY help or tips will be greatly appreciated.
Chuck

If the wall is not a required special "shear wall panel", you may be alright to go. Use the proper sized header for the span/loads (keep in mind these are for residential, prescriptive codes), check with local AHJ; http://publicecodes.cyberregs.com/ic...002_par021.htm

May want to add some foamboard or the metal back may condense moisture to rust (if ever condition the inside)...
