cultured stone mortar mix?

Trying to install stoncraft.com stones and they are a little heavier than the cultured stone ones but the same product. I tried using premixed S type mortar and it wasnt sticky enough so I tried N cement with 3 parts sand and was better but I had to hold the stone for about 2 minutes. I tried mixing drier and wetter and was the same.

Now since this is going on new CMU column and retaining wall I was told to use exterior latex modified thinset. Stones stick instantly but want to slide down the wall about 1 inch. I am installing top down and was thinking of going bottom up to use previous stones for support. Also what is the best way to cut the stones, grinder or circular saw with diamond blade? Any thoughts would help me big time.

cultured stone mortar mix?

As I told you on the other board, if it is sliding, you are applying either too much thinset, or you are mixing it too wet.
