Cross Bean Support in Garage

I have wooden cross beams in my garage. Like probably a lot of folks, I put things on top of the cross beams for storage. Nothing extraordinarily heavy. I want to put a few more things up there, so I want to shore up the cross beams a bit more. I was thinking of using metal wire cables and turnbuckles attached to the roof beams. But is that an acceptable way ? Or is there some other way that is better ?

It is very likely to transfer the weight onto your rafters and perhaps cause them to sag.

There isn't enough information to give an opinion. Most likely, what you are calling beams are rafter ties and are not there for storage.

Ok. Thanks. I don't want to bring the roof down.
