Question

Crawlspace

I have a 14' X 16' dirt/clay crawl space under my kitchen I can feel allot of moisture coming from the basement. its about 50 inches in height so I can crawl around in it. what should i do to seal up the ground to prevent the moisture coming from there. I was thinking of lay a 6mil roll of vapor barrier on the ground and walls and using buckets to put 2" of small gravel on top of the barrier.
any other ideas I can use?

Thanks Level

you've got it. use non-hardening caulk to seal the poly to the walls. i prefer the black poly to the "clear"; much tougher animal. no need for rock to hold it down. crawl spaces should be conditioned, ideally, btw.

Heated. Read on buildingscience.com, and or greenbuildingadvisor.com.

Does your crawlspace have adequate ventilation?
