Crawl Space under house

I have a crawl space under a home in Maine.
I have glass windows that dont open.
The dirt is 'cold' and sometimes i get a little bit of weeds growing

A carpenter told me to get new windows that open to get fresh air.
I usually leave the bulk head open so air comes in.

Does anyone have any experice with crawl spaces.
Should i spray bleach on the dirt
and get windows that open???
Thanks

Bleach on the dirt? I can't comment on that, but would tell you to consider landscape fabric first.

As far as a window(s) that open: ABSOLUTELY.

You need to create ventilation. If possible: Cross-ventilation. Code dictates what you need to have per SF ventilation...based on the area of the crawl space. Do some research on this.
I would look it up and post it for you, but It's bed time for me. Up since 3:00 am and need to get up around 4 am tomorrow. If you can't find any information, or need more details...post your request(s).

Regards, and good night.
