Cracks in roof rafters

Noticed some cracks in the middle of some of the roof rafters lengthwise:

Should I be worried? Do I need to sister them up?

That is normal "checking" seen in large timbers.
They are not "cracking".
Just an aesthetic nuisance, not a structural issue.

Not a big concern--Those are known as 'heart checks'---The strength of the rafter is not compromised much by that.

If the checks reach the outside of the rafter then it's time to figure a repair.---Mike---

Wow, thank you both! Didn't think I could get replies so quick.

Mike, what do you mean by "outside"? You mean the other side?

Wood is like a book made of paper---some times the 'pages' have gaps at the edges---no problem.

If the book(wood) is sliced on such a way that the openings are on the cover (face) then the strength of the book is weakened.

This explanation stinks----sorry----Bottom line, you're good. No worries about your house.---Mike----
