Cover Patio Ideas

I am needing some ideas for my patio. I want to do a pergola or maybe just cover the patio. The patio is 24 x 9 1/2. What would be the best option for me? Any help would be great! Thanks

What is that ledger board already installed at the top of the wall?

Looks like you are ready to put a pergola in already, unless there was some other purpose for that ledger?

That board was there when we moved in. The owners took what they had with them....lame!

Sorry, didn't see you responded.

I would say go ahead and utilize what they left you (it was probably for that purpose before).

Verify how its fastened to the building to ensure that it can support a pergola, and if so then that is how I would use it.

With the front of the patio being 24' wide, I would recommend install some 4x4 posts and building a perimeter frame. From there, I would install the pergola boards across and overhanging the front.

Pergola's should have the boards running in the north and south direction to be effective in the spring and fall.

How you handle the pergola at the door is left to be seen, but I have some design ideas of course.

Just some suggestions.
