Copper vs. Aluminum frame velux skylights?
I live in southeast NY with a typical shingled gable roof (high ranch).
I'm going to be getting the deck-mounted Velux FS-S06 (roughly 45x45") with EDL step flashing. Costs around $520 for the aluminum framed version.
For the copper frame (and flashing) version, it's another $350 or so on top of that...
Why would I choose the copper over the aluminum version? Is the copper for a special type of installation or if it's going to be a visual eyepiece or something? Not quite sure I get it...
I am thinkin copper is for when you install a slate roof which lasts 100 years.
If you have an asphalt shingle roof then I see no reason to spend the extra money for the copper flashing.
