Contractors please:framing moved during demo?
My mom recently had the 15 x 10 plaster ceiling in her kitchen removed after years of continuous water damage from (2) bathrooms above. She also removed the tile floors and 'mud mat' sub flooring from the two bathrooms above as well as a cast iron tub. She's yet to replace the ceiling/flooring.
Mom reports that her bathroom doors no longer close properly; that they're slightly racked. Could "unloading" the ceiling/floor joists have caused the framing to move? Her house was built in the 40's from rough hewn, seasoned mixed hardwoods, has plaster walls and ceilings throughout and has hardwood floors over hardwood plank subfloor throughout.
She's concerned that she needs to re-load the joists with similar weight. I told her to plane the doors when she was done with the remodel. What say ye?
