I have a serious problem with a contractor.
I live in Oregon and my wife and I decided to build a second home.
We have split up and are divorcing and now 2 years later, the contractor, her boyfriend that built the second house has submitted a bill for 48k!
He was/is her boyfriend and now they are trying to tell the court that I owe him half of 48k and that way they will get more money from me.
My atty will get him into court where he can make it clear what's going on but what can I do about this guy submitting a fraudulent bill?
There was no lien olaced against our homes and no attempts were made to collect this money from 2 years ago.
We even had a tiltle search done by our lender when we got a mortgage to pay off the construction loan and they found no outstanding debts.
This is a legal problem not a DIY problem. Your lawyer is going to have to dice through this one.
Clutch is right....talk to your lawyer.
If it is fraudulent, your lawyer will sort it all out....
