concrete vs. crushed rock for setting deck post

I'm building my 3rd deck (4th house)....been using the old standard method of packing dirt in the bottom to get the post square then filling with concrete. I'm always looking to improve on my methods and have been reading about using compacted limestone instead of concrete.

Any suggestions? This particular deck will only be 7 inches off the ground in 3 areas and then a raised area that will be 15 inches off the ground. Needless to say not very high. Looking for a quick method for setting posts so that I can frame the deck out.

Thanks,
Chris

I put concrete piers in & posts on top of that
Metal bracket attaches the 2

Gravel in the bottom & around the sides allow the posts to dry out
Sealing the posts in concrete will rot them long term
Can depend upon your soil/drainage conditions

Where are you located ?
Attached to the house ?

not attached to the house and located in south Louisiana.

no drainage problems that i know of, the ground slopes well away from the deck area into a larger part of the yard, just hoping to find a less cumbersome method of installing the deck as i have at least 24 supports i need to put in.
