Concrete Support for Rock Fountian ?

Greetings--

I had one by my pool at the other house and over 4-5 yrs, the weight of the stone waterfall caused the whole thing to begin to sink and tilt.

So my question is this for the new house-- How might one go about designing the concrete footing for a rock waterfall ? Does it need pillars poured into the ground or ??

Thanks--

properly prepared base might work.... it's really dependent ont he soil type you're working in. I'd prepare it more like what's Under concrete. Dig down another foot or so and install a compactable sub base in 2-3" incriments and compact it with a plate compactor. You might need to go deeper if the waterfall is made with larger rocks and bolders.
