concrete slab moisture barrier

does the vapor barrier for a concrete slab go into the trenches and up the outside of the perimeter trench

You can certainly do it this way. I just asked my building inspector and was told I could. I believe it will further minimize the amount of moisture absorbed by the slab.

yes, you can - no, we wouldn't - neither would most pro's nor would an arch/engineer spec it to be done as you post

if you hear it from a guy in the apron store, be VERY suspicious the mtl/method will work,,, when it time to build something together, they won't answer phones NOR help

You mean you want to install a moat around your place? Do you think that's a good idea? I'm w/ itsreally on this one, unless there is absolutely no way for the water in the ditch to get back to the house, which it does not sound like from what you said. (ie, I see the water getting from the ditch to the house). I use french drains for gutters, but they are 3' from the house, and their own, separate ditch.
