Help! My old kitchen floor, which is now a dining room floor after an extension was added, has a damp patch about 1 foot sq. Investigations revealed that a hole was dug into the floor, piercing the damp proofing, to seal the old commomn water mains up (with the other semi), and was just filled in with concrete to floor level.
Can anyone advise me how I can fix this problem?
Their a special Water proofing paint used for basement walls. "UGL Drylok" is supposed to be a good one. I would think this would do the trick. I haven't personally ran into your situation though.
From my experience, the best way to do it without tearing out that patch and doing it over would be to use a concrete sealer.
Thompson's makes a good concrete sealer that is used on concrete floors to seal out moisture before putting other types of flooring down, such as tile, wood, or linoleum.
Good luck!!
