Concrete for columns

I bought a set of roman columns made of concrete moldings. each column is divided into 4 pieces. the seller asked me to use mortar to stack them on top of each other. Having never done any kind of masonary work in the past, I am wondering what kind of mortar to use. the column pieces are about 100lbs each.

How high will these columns be? Were do you live? Earthquake, tornado or hurricane zone?
You might need more then simple mortar to keep them upright.

these are 6 feet in height. the blocks are about 20 inches each and they will be stacked upon each other.

There are no hurricanes, quakes or tornadoes in this part of AZ.
