concrete block detached building, minimum space between openings

I am in the process of having an 8" x 16" concrete block storage building in my back yard for lawn mower and storage.

It is a simple building and I am thinking of 12' X 20', with a garage door a couple of windows and a set of double doors.

I was wondering if there is a minimum space requirement for concrete blocks as far as from the edge of an outside wall and an opening for a door, or garage door or window.

For example if I were to put the garage door and the double doors on the front, do I need to maintain a minimum amount of space between the garage door and set of double doors.

Typically you do not see anything smaller than half blocks on a wall, but I would think the minimum would be at least a whole block to allow you to stagger the morter joints on each course.

So, that would be 16".

Insert #5 vertical reinforcing inside each block cell and fully grout all the cells and you will be fine. Do not forget to have dowels coming up from the concrete foundation overlapped 24" with the vertical reinforcing.

I am struggling with the decision on where to put the garage door, either on the end, or in the front.

I like the idea of the openess of putting the door on the front, but think I would like the versatility of having one on the end as well.

I can not put a typical track door in both places because the tracks would overlap.

I was thinking of a roll up metal door on the end.
