Concrete basement wall leak

First off, I'm not a handy man .

We have a decent size leak in a concrete block in the basement. We got a lot of rain today, so needless to say our basement is soaked. The hole is rather big, when we get a hard down poor, it looks like a fountain is coming out of the wall. It's a steady, thick stream.

That's on a good day too. The black stuff is tar, or something related to it. My father put it on, hoping it would patch the leaking.

Any suggestions on how I could patch this hole?.

My friend use to work for a company that would fix leaks like yours, They would dig(if needed) on the outside of the house until they found where the water was coming in at, Then they would set up a slow curing 2 part epoxy caulk gun with a spring tensioner that would slowly inject the epoxy into the cracked concrete over several hours.

The epoxy is slow curing so it can leak all the way into the crack before if cures.

Sometimes they would also set up the epoxy rig on the inside of the basement.

The epoxy is expensive, I think it's a couple hundred bucks for a tube(really it's 2 tubes) I don't know how much the special spring tensioning caulk gun is.

Have you done all of the normal things to keep water away from the foundation? - Gutters, long downspout extensions (10') and grading to divert all surface water away from the house

After that you can better assess the severity of the leak. If your rain is quickly related to the rainfall period, that is a sign of surface water problems.

If everything has been done, as mentioned above, I'd apply some hydraulic cement, and after curing, I'd put down a layer of Dry Lock. Important thing is to fix the outside though.
