Question

Completing a basement remodel in US.

Hi, new to the forum and loving the information I've been able to gather so far!

I was wondering about the estimated costs of refinishing my basement. It was a finished basement when I purchased the house a couple of years ago, unfortunatly I had to have all the 'finished' parts removed due to a mold remediation. I bought the property at cents on the dollar and other than replacing the furnace and water heater, because they had been partially under water for some time, I haven't had any other issues! **GO HOME INSPECTORS!!**

My question, I want to finish the basement out again. The room to room wiring was all cut at odd places when they tore out everything but the ventilation sytem and over head pot lights are still intact. All the studs, walls, and doors were also removed. There is still the plumbing connections for the half bath. (More than a rough plumb but no fixtures attached, valves just closed.)

What kind of cost am I looking at for around 1000 sq. ft.? I recently sealed all the concrete walls and tried to start framing, I've done other DIY. But the whole process seems to need more time than I currently have to devote to it. I'd really like it completed by this summer. (JUNE)

SO, what do you think? I can do some of the work myself but would want the bulk done by a professional, because of time constraints. Although, after watching Holmes on Holmes I have to say I'm wary to hire anyone!!!

THANKS

You're asking a question that is absolutely impossible to answer.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?
